Stockbridge is the gateway to Henry County and is the proud home of Panola Mountain State Park, a 100-acre granite mountain that offers recreational activities for children and adults.
The Panola Mountain State Park is a nature and recreational haven for all. Here, you can try archery, go on biking and hiking, or boating and geocaching.
You can sign up for an indoor basic archery class at the park, or hit the trail in a 3-mile ranger led guided mountain hike.
You can also join the “Thunder Moon” summer hike and the Fireworks Hike held in July.
And if you are not afraid of heights, make some summer memories by climbing onto a 200 plus year old Southern Red Oak tree at the park.
But before doing the actual climb, you need to undergo first an introductory program to tree climbing by joining an “on rope” for an adventure exploring the canopy above. Here, participants will use rope and harness to ascend into the 200 plus year old tree where they can climb, swing and scramble.
While on the tree, you can enjoy viewing the stars through the shimmering branches and have a treetop camp for an overnight experience.
Summer camps are also regularly held at the Panola Mountain State Park for children.
If you are in Stockbridge to celebrate the Halloween, have a safe blast by joining Panola State Park’s Trunk-O-Treat where you collect candy going car to car instead of door to door and play on the playground.
Or learn how to cook turkey and your own Thanksgiving feast over the campfire by joining the Turkey Trek Night Hike.
You can even have a picnic at Alexander Lake or go on biking at the paved trail.
You can also try roller blading, jogging and dog-walking.
Senior adults can have an ageless adventure day trips in the Atlanta area.
The trip will take them to the Bloomin’ Botanical, Tiny Town Tuesdays, museums, tours and shows.
For sure, seniors will have a wonderful day of making memories, enjoying nature’s beauty, laughter, good food and fun.
For a good Halloween treat, join the Yule Forest Pumpkin Patch where you can pick your pumpkin right off the vine.
Aside from that, you can also enjoy the inflatables, jumping pillow, petting zoo, tractor-pulled hayride through the cartoon forest, STEM program, bee house, puppet show, chicken coop and a science center.
